Upgrading your Catalog from Release 1.23.13

If you are upgrading from Release 1.23.13 you can use the File>Import>Upgrade… command to import your catalog form the older release.

  1. Use the Tools>Live Update command to import any and all current factroy catalog updates.
  2. Use the File>Import>Upgrade... command. Navigate the file selection dialog to the 1.23.13 Folder and select the DVDReg.mdb file as the source of the upgrade. Windows may hide the file extension so you may be looking for a file icon of a red key in a sqaure.
  3. Once the upgrade starts you will see a progress dialog. Occasionally imported records will conflict and you may see a warning. You should acknowledge the warning to cuase the "action query" to continue.

Upgrading your Catalog from Release 1.23.12 or Earlier

  1. With Release 1.23.14 you cannot use the File>Import>Upgrade… command to import from catalogs 1.23.12.xx and ealier. This is due to a change in the permission structure of Release 1.23.13 as a result of changes to Access 2013. This issue applies to Release 1.23.14 regardless of the version of Access you are currently running.
  2. You should open the older Release 1.23.xx catalog and use the File>Export>Backup… command. Save the backup to a location that you can find later. Close the older release. You cannot import a backup from a release prior to 1.23.xx. (aka prior to October 2003).
  3. If necessary transfer the backup file from an older PC to the PC running Release 1.23.13.
  4. Open 1.23.13 and use the File>Import>Backup… command. Select the backup file you made in the prior step or a backup that you moved from another PC.
  5. You will be presented with another warning screen, which gives you the opportunity to continue or cancel.
  6. Click OK and the contents of the backup database will be processed for import. If some records cannot be properly imported you will receive an error message with the count of records that could not be processed. Currently there is no way to determine which records failed to be imported. There is no way to undo an import once it has started. The only method to recover from a failed import is to restore the database from a back-up copy.

Revision Notes: The DVD Register, Release 1.23.14.01 (First Build) Built Feb 1, 2016

The Release 1.23.14.01 install script was revised to correctly detect Access 2016 (aka Access 16). Access 2016 retail was released by Microsoft in August 2015.  The Access 2016 Runtime was released in December 2015. If Access 2016 is installed on the PC, then it will be used as the host application for the DVDR.

MODIFICATIONS:

Disk type “DVD Blu-ray UHD” was added. Forms and reports were changed to filter on this new disc type.  Some changes were made to forms to allow for a wider Disc Type Field.

CHANGES TO THE REFERENCE CATALOG:

The local reference catalog was rebuilt from the factory reference catalog that was benchmarked on January 23, 2016. This new factory catalog includes all corrections made to the reference catalog. All Catalog Updates through Update 253 are present in this rebuilt catalog.

KNOWN BUGS:

On a test PC running Widows 10 64 bit and Access 2016 runtime, the HTML reports for the one Disc Per Page and the Semi Custom Report would generate an error. The issue is related to Unicode characters in the Notes and Supplements Fields (memo field types). The work around is to edit the data and remove the Unicode characters.

TEST CONFIGURATIONS:

The following configurations of Windows and Access and DVDR Release 1.23.14.01 have been tested:

Windows 10 64bit and Access 2016 Runtime 32bit
