Uploading Files to the Factory Server

Certain issues and trouble require that you database file be examined at the factory. Your catalog file is usually located on your PC at:

C:\Program Files\Laser Disc Register\Release 1.xx\DVDReg.mdb

You may also need to upload a backup created from your catalog. In either case follow the procedure below to upload the file from your PC to the factory server:

If you are uploading a catalog for the Laser Disc Cover Art project, then make a backup of you catalog to reduce the size of the upload. Use the following procedure to make the backup:

  1. Print out these instructions so that you can refer to them later.
  2. Open the application with the shortcut in the Start menu
  3. Use the File>Export>Backup command to make the backup file.
  4. When presented with the file dialog, give the backup a name like xyz-dvdr.mdb where "xyz are you initials.
  5. Close the application when the export is completed

Now proceed with the file upload.

  1. Click on the following link to open the location for uploading your file: Upload Location
  2. Resize the IE window so that it fits into the left half of your desktop.
  3. Open Windows Explorer with the Start>Programs>Accessories>Windows Explorer shortcut.
  4. Resize the Windows Explorer windows so that it fits into the right hand half of your desktop and does not overlap the IE window. 
  5. Using the left hand pane of Windows Explorer, expand "My Computer" by clicking on the plus sign (+). Continue expanding the folder view by expanding "C:" disk, "Program Files", and Laser Disc Register". Then click on the application folder that contains the most recent release like "Release 1.21,7 A2K". You desktop should appear as shown below:
  6. Click on the file "DVDReg.mdb" that will be shown in the file view pane on the right hand side of Windows Explorer. If you do not see the file extension shown then the correct file will have an icon consisting of a key. If you are uploading a backup file the click on the backup file that you had previously made.
  7. Once you find the file, then click the file and hold down the left mouse button. While holding the left mouse button drop the file into the IE window on the left. Any where there is white space, release the left mouse button and drop the file into the IE window. You have initiated the file transfer when you see the progress indicator appear as shown below:
  8. The transfer make take along time depending upon your Internet connection speed. When the transfer is compete the progress dialog will close and you will see your file list in the IE window.
  9. When the upload is complete, send an email message confirming availability of the upload file:  email
